My favorite paint color right now is Indian Maze. This is on my front door as of last weekend! I love the modern twist the yellow adds to our traditional house.
ReplyDeleteAnd for a tip...Frog Tape might be the best thing since sliced bread. I use it everywhere for pain projects...even used it to create a chevron pattern on our front door mat. No bleeding!
P.S. Your blog is awesome! Such a great resource!

ReplyDeleteI love this blog. I'm trying to decide what color to paint my living room and this is a big help. My paint tip is to not tape a room when you paint. Just use a small fine art paint brush to cut in. It will give you great control and you won't need to waste time taping the room first. I got this tip from my Mom. She knows her stuff
ReplyDeleteand I tried to like you on facebook...but I keep getting an error message. Maybe I had liked you already and I forgot.
ReplyDeleteOh...a paint color I'm loving is Bluebird by Martha Stewart for Home Depot

ReplyDeleteMy paint tip is to farm the children out so you can work effectively.
ReplyDeleteMy tip is to ALWAYS use a test sample. You might love it in many inspiration pictures on your computer, you might love it at your friend's house, you might even love it in the can - but make sure you love it on the wall that is going to get painted! Colors change!
ReplyDeleteI also subscribed to your feed.

I am a follower and I "liked" you on FB!
I just subscribed via Google Reader. :)
ReplyDeleteMy painter is finishing up today on my master bedroom and bathroom and I spent months obsessing over the colors. Thankfully I love them both! I chose Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray for the bedroom (a perfect medium true gray that doesn't look at all blue or taupe) and Aura Sanctuary for the bathroom (a dusty purple-gray). Here's a link to photos of some of my other favorites: http://aprettygoodtime.blogspot.com/2010/06/paint-it-black.html
My tip is not to automatically go with ceiling white on your ceilings. In my bedroom, I went with BM White Dove, which has a touch of gray, and it looks so nice with the walls. In the bathroom, which is tiny, I had them paint the ceiling the same as the walls.
Also, Aura's washable matte finish is so rich looking!
I am now following your blog. I am so excited to find this blog. My email is ajacobson1975@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am a FB fan. ajacobson1975@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteMy biggest tip is to use Frog tape instead of blue painters tape! It is SO much better! It doesn't bleed like blue painters tape and doesn't pull at your paint. SO much better.
ReplyDeletekellibrewer@gmail.com
I am following you! I would definitely say using QUALITY BRUSHES is key for trim. I use Purdy :)

ReplyDeleteI just moved, so the new house is completely neutral. But my favorite color in my old house was Benjamin Moore's Stone Harbour, although in my room it ended up looking more blue than grey.

Paint tip I just learned, but I wish I would have known a long time ago!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am cleaning up after painting for the day, and I am going to return to my project soon, instead of washing out my paint brush, I put the wet brush in a zippered plastic bag and put it in the fridge and it won't dry out.
I just started doing this and it has saved me so much time!!

ReplyDeleteI haven't done a lot of painting, but I've learned slow and steady. Do multiple thin layers instead of trying to do it thick.

ReplyDeleteHi, I just started following! I am SO excited about this blog. I am a paint NUT! And we're moving into a pretty much all white house! Thanks so much for starting this.
ReplyDeleteJust liked you on FB...
ReplyDeleteFavorite paint color at the moment:
ReplyDeleteKhaki Shade from SW, mixed at 80%
Silver Sage from RH
Favorite tip:
If you're using oil-based paint, have the guys at the paint shop mix in the correct amount of Penetrol (you'll have to buy a whole bottle of it, but you can save the rest for later). It makes painting with OBP a BREEZE, and the results are lovely!
I like to carry the paint chips for my room/furniture around in my purse. I never know when I'm going to find something for my home, and if I can match it with the color of the room, it takes a lot of guesswork out of shopping. Besides, I hate returning something because it didn't quite match.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you!
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea for a new blog. I love it!
ReplyDeleteFavorite color right now was a color we found on a tag during Christmas from a papsan chair we bought at Pier 1. So I don't have the name of it, but I do have a picture of the room.
thanks!
I also liked you on Facebook and added you to my google reader!!!
I have recently painted my dining room Hush by Benjamin Moore. It took me 6 months to decide on a color because I was so afraid I would choose the wrong color! I love it. Painted the door Caliente by Benjamin Moore and I love the way it added just the right "pop" to the area. Hopefully it will not take me 6 months to decide on every room in my house. Glad you are here.

My tip is: Even if you are POSITIVE you are going to replace your flooring immediately after painting, use a drop cloth! I was sure 4 years ago that the flooring would be replaced, and I'm still waiting. And unfortunately I'm waiting with paint-splotched floors. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a subscriber! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! This looks like it will be fun!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite paint color EVER is Valspar's Starlily. It is a gorgeous pale butter. It matches with everything. EVERYTHING. Hold up any pattern or color or texture to Starlily, and it will instantly look as if they were made for each other. I'm not kidding. Someone recently told me Valspar changed the name on this miracle color, but I'm told that Lowe's can look it up.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower.....great blog!!! I just bought Sea Salt today from SW..it is my newest love!
ReplyDeleteJust posted your button on my sidebar...advertising your giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI love Harvest Brown by Behr. I got it several years ago, so I don't know if they even have it anymore, but it is a great brown!
ReplyDeletei just bought some Behr Pewter Ring, and can't wait to paint it in my bathroom and send you some pictures! I also love Valspars Oregon Coast (and often have it lightened 25%). Lastly, BM's Hemlock is a lovely blue color that I have in my entryway. Just perused your site and LOVE the great pictures with NO extra words. Makes it very easy to find a room and color that jump out at you! Great job!
ReplyDeletei just "followed" you. and i wanted to give you a quick blog tip: place your "followers" block a little higher up on the sidebar. I was beginning to wonder where I would find that widget as I scrolled down for a longer-than-usual amount of time.
ReplyDeletewait- another tip!: eliminate the "word verification" in the comments. Its really not necessary and often slows people down or discourages comments.
Can't wait to see you grow!
